On 14th July 2021, Ofsted released their latest research review, this time into history. The review outlines the national context in relation to history, considers curriculum progression, explores assessment, pedagogy and leadership, and summaries the factors that contribute to a high-quality history education.
The findings indicate that whilst much of the content of the history curriculum is statutory, teachers and leaders appreciate the freedom given to them with regard to curriculum design. This process is strongest when careful consideration is given to topic choices, content choices and further emphasis within the broad content selected.
